Chapter 2: Mystery PT1
"So how long were you lurging on the
streets?" asked Robin "Since i was 10, the was over 5
years ago." D.B. said back and Star said "So you were out in the
wild without a home?" and he said "Yea." and Star said
back "well, did you not feel lonley by yourself?" and he said
"No. I made lots of friends out on the road. But i always thought that i
needed to stay at one place." and then Robin said "So hows it
finally feel to stay with us?" D.B. said "Great, I can finally
take a shower" he chuckled. After that they went out for pizza,
well... they actually didn't get the pizza becouse they couldn't decide
which kind to take, they came back into the tower and found a strange note
on the table. it read Don't get too used to him, he will be mine, one
day he will, one day he will die working for me. "What is that
about?" Beast Boy asked and D.B. said "I don't know." as he
shrugged his shoulders. And Robin said, I think I know who is behind this.
Slade Robin said with a cold shudder running down his back. That
afternoon the titans were scared as hell becouse of that note. They
decided to split up into groups and search the city for any sign of Slade
but they didn't find anything but one thing. Slades old mask. The
titans didn't know alot about their new friend but now tey were
starting to get worried becouse of the past. That had happened with Terra,
their friend, was drawn in by Slade and was forced to work for him. They
were afraid that was the same case here, or he could already be
spying on them for Slade. He was not. He was not being used by Slade, he
didn't know about Slade until now. But there was a possibility about
Terra. She went to the dark side. It was her choice. After he heard about
what has happened to the titans already becouse of Slade, he had been
furious. He left that night to have a look at the quiet city. At Jump
City. while he was walking he noticed taht someone was following
him. He didn't want to reveal hmself so D.B. kept on walking. Suddenly,
Slade jumped out and wanted to fight D.B. for him so he will work for
Slade. "Guess not" D.B. said. He pulled out his fighting stick
and fought him. While they were fighting. Back at titans tower, Cy woke up
and found D.B. gone. He alerted the titans and went to look for him. In
about 15 minutes. They found him fighting Slade in Mid-Town. Then
Slades robots came jumping out as each robot knew how to bring each titan
down. All were down but one. Raven was about to fly into the battle to
help D.B. but it was too late. Like in her dream, she had been hit
by one of Slades contraptions and was stuck in the air. She
watched D.B. get beat up like in her dream. She trembled trying
to break loose of the force field. She fought the tears that were trying to
get loose in her eyes. She tried her best. No luck. She was still stuck.
Suddenly D.B. got flung across the street like in her dream. well.... not
only in her dream. In his dream also, but thats what she didn't
know, he had the power to tell the future. He lied there motionless. She
shouted wit a sob "D.B. Get Up!!!" as he still lied there
motionless. Slade then threw a smoke bomb next to him as smoke came up
around him. A few seconds later, he was gone. Vanished into thin
air.

"Wake up
apprentice." a fimiliar voice said. D.B. slowly opened his eyes and
looked up as he saw Slade up next to him. D.B. got up and asked him
"What do you want from me Slade?" and he said "I dont want
anything form you, I do not want you, I want, I want your powers. I want
you to work for me. You know get the dirty stuff out of my way. If you
disobey me, I will kill you. Death for you, slow death. That armlet that
you have on your right arm, it can instantly charge you with more
than one hundred thousand (100,000) volts of electricity. Now if you start
now i shall get my revenge on the titans." D.B. mearly looked
up at him and said "So technically I have no choice." and Slade
Laughed under his breath "No, child." and he said
"Then I guess I have to do it." As much as D.B.
didn't want to be Slades task boy, he had no choice. He said to himself
while he was rushing to the first robbery he was sopposed to make.
"Well, I could have went and died in hell better than do this **** for
Slade." As he got there, as quick as possible, he rushed into
the testing lab, stole what he needed and went out. Outside he was
running away with the stuff as he stumbled onto something he didn't
want to. The Teen Titans. Cy yelled "Yo, show your face coward!"
as he turned around, the titans had lost it all. They felt cold silver
daggers stabbed through their hearts as to what they saw. They saw
D.B While everyone was frozen still as their friend was stealing. They
obviously knew it was Slade but they weren't sure, he didn't have
anything on his entire body that could make Slade control him. He
attacked. As they fought him he defeated then one by one. They were shocked.
While he was jumping at Raven, She tried to talk to him. She
couldn't. He wasn't listening. After he was done, he then
dissapeared into the sunset, but leaving only one thing a signature at the
crime scene. A graffiti tag of a criminal, Marked Slade. They went
back to the tower to investigate. "Well he wasn't doing it on
purpose." Cy said "And he wasn't doing it by
accident." said Star "So he must have been doing it by
force." said Robin They all agreed. "So how are we going
to solve this?" said Beast Boy and Raven said "We have to
find out what he is being forced by and who he is forced by." as
they set out to find him. At Slades headquarters, Slade was saying how
proud he was of D.B. and how he was going to be even prouder in the
future. "I'll find a way out of this Slade. You Know It!" yelled
D.B. "Well, well aren't we planning a little too ahead, arent
we D.B.?" and D.B. said "No, i'm planning perfectly into the
future in my dreams. I ain't gonna do ******** for you, you
hear me, nuttin, nada, zero, zip,nothing. "Oh but you
will child. You have to" Slade said. "Well too bad, id
rather die now than this **** but you have to make me die slow
and i'll find a way to get out of this any day now." D.B. said. That
next day at sunset, they met with him. And yet again he fought them. Even
though he was still there, Robin ordered a full out attack no matter if he is
still himself or not. He again took down the titans one by one then it
happened. Suddenly. He disobeyed Slade when Raven communicated him telepathicly
and he told her that he has to be brought down. "Raven. I don't deserve
this, hurting my friends? No I can't. You must kill me! You must!"
D.B. said in the telepathic communication. She then said "But isin't
there another way? There must be! There Must! It can't be the end. I didn't know
you that much. Your stories, they teach me! I must know more!" As she
looked into his eyes. "Yes there is another way, You must put your
mind and soul to figure it out. Trust me." D.B. said and she
said, "I will find it" as then Slade triggered it. Slade was
telling him what to do through the earpiece. D.B. wasn't responding. He
was just standing there. Like he would be dead. The Slade did it.
Ahhhhhhhhhh! D.B. yelled as he was falling to the ground. His
face hit the cold, hard, grey cement. Raven looked at him. She has
seen it all, well... thats what she thought. D.B. couldn't stand it.
Through the tears and sobs he was fighting, he yelled at the titans
"Ahhhhhhhhhh! Please just kill me! Do it! It's the only way!" But
Raven said. "No, we can save him but we must let him beat us. For
now." as they stood down the shock ended. He then said "What's
the matter! Fight me!" They did but poorly. Soon he left into the
sunset again, but this time he walked calmly.
"He is under Slade's
control!" yelled Raven with a angry voice as she punched the table.
"So that's why." said Robin. "Well now what do we do?"
asked BB. "I have to find out how to get rid of Slade so that
he loses the control over D.B." and she left the room as she headed
into her room. "Well, that is just peachy! Our new friend is taken
over by a phsycotic villan, we have no focus over what's happening, and we
have no idea to what to do!" yelled Cy. "Maybe. Maybe not.
Give Raven some time and she'll find out how to stop Slade. She
knows becouse she got a chance to talk to him. Maybe she knows. But she
dosen't want to tell us. Maybe she has something for him." said
Robin. "Well let's give her time" said Star. "We will. We
have to. But this. This keeps repeating. The apprentices. The thing Slade
has for hiding himself." said BB. "Well, for now let's forget
about it. Let's leave it up to Raven." said Robin.

"Well, Won't your
friends rescue you D.B.?" asked Slade. "Maybe, maybe not."
said D.B. "Wait Why should I care? I shouldn't" said Slade.
"Maybe they will come for me. But for now I'm just paying attention
on what you're telling me Slade." said D.B. That night at titans
tower. Raven was in bed strugguling to go to sleep. No titan could. She
then finally fell asleep at 2 in the morning. And unexpectadly, a
dream came. She was standing in the dark as a mysterious starnger cam
up to her. It was D.B. He said " I'll be back. One day i will. I
promise. Since Slade has a grip on me, I have to leave. But i'll be back
one day. I promise. He then put his arms around her and kissed her. As
shocked as she was, she was very sad for some reaso, she enjoyed the
kiss. She then looked at his body which was fading away.
She said "I love you." in a soft quiet voice, almost as she
would have whispered it. Then she woke up as she was panting. She
looked at her door and then at the skateboard that D.B. left in
her room when he was meditating with her before Slade got his hands
on him. She then said quietly "This isin't over. It isn't over
Slade. He'll be back. My friend will be back one day." Then her voice
faded as she fell asleep again. But was destiny yet to come true?
