Every
Window Shattered
Raven
walked the darkened halls of Titans Tower, observing what she'd done. Suddenly,
everything flooded back to her. Exactly what had happened.
Raven
entered the kitchen, carefully stepping around some spilled food. She peered
over the counter, the same counter she had silently crept around earlier that
day, and saw Cyborg. He was slumped on the floor, a kitchen knife thrust deep
into his neck.
Raven
hadn't felt quite like herself for the past few days. She had a strange
presence within her, something that made her think and act differently. It
hadn't bothered her in the least.
She gently
opened the door to Starfire's bedroom and went inside. The alien girl was
stretched across her round bed, her face pressed into a small purple book. It
was a diary. A small bowl of caramel filed chocolates sat next to her. Raven
picked up one of the candies and placed it on her tongue. A bittersweet flavor
filled her mouth and she swallowed. Poison, but she immune.
She left
the bedroom and headed to the room in which they held the evidence. The strange
presence was still there, but she didn't dwell on it long.
Raven
entered the evidence room and looked around. She saw Robin, curled in a tight
ball in the corner. A bleak frost lay over him, as if he had been frozen then
and there. She left, the strange presence following her.
Nothing in the
building had been moved or broken. Everything was in its proper place. Still,
it felt as if she were walking through a ruin, destroyed and now lonely.
Raven came
to her own door. Lying outside of her room was Beast Boy. His eyes, still
open, were wide and afraid. Where his heart had been there was an openly
bleeding wound. She glanced down at him quickly then turned away.
Raven
walked the darkened hallways of Titans Tower, observing what she'd done.
Suddenly, she threw her head back and laughed for a long, long time.
